Do you have to be in crisis to call RAP?
No.  RAP is the place to call when you don’t
know where to call. Whether it’s for support & encouragement,
referrals for your particular situation or to simply have someone
listen, KNOW THAT HELP IS ALWAYS JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY! 

Do you have to be a certain age to call?
No, RAP is available to people of all ages. 

Does it cost anything to call?
No, calls to RAP are free. We have 800 numbers
available in each county to eliminate any
toll-calling barriers.

Are calls confidential?
Yes, calls are confidential.

Who answers the phones?
People from a variety of different educational
and life experience backgrounds. All Listeners are paid and work either full or part time.

What type of training do Listeners receive?
Each Listener receives 80 to 120 hours of training prior
to answering the phones. The learning process continues as the Listeners are given information to read so that they can be on the cutting edge of what's happening out there.

Where do you get your funding?
The Genesee Country United Way, New York State Office of
Mental Health, Genesee & Orleans County Government,
Contract Agencies, our Genesee/Orleans/Wyoming Community
Services Directory and Donations from members of the communities we serve.

How can I schedule a RAP presentation?
Ask to speak to Holly Baxter, the Executive Director.
She is very accommodating when it comes to
dates, times and needs.

How can I support RAP?
Use our services, let others know about RAP and
support us financially. By investing in RAP, you are
impacting your community and making a difference
in the lives of callers every time the phone rings.
